Online gambling on the rise in Senegal Gambling is on the rise in Senegal as both online and offline betting are becoming more popular in the country. Especially sports betting and playing in the lottery have gained popularity. The Continent, a pan- African weekly news magazine, first reported the news about it. According to the magazine, especially young Senegalese are increasingly turning to gambling. Senegal, a nation of almost 17 million people in West Africa, is not the country where you would expect most people to gamble. Given that their religions prohibit gambling, Senegal is not the most fertile ground for betting websites. However, that has not discouraged youngsters. Despite the fact that conservative people do not approve of gambling, more liberal young people easily find their way to Africa's main betting pages. An increasing number of youngsters see sports betting as an easy way of earning money. There are lots of betting websites where people can bet online on football and other sports. Sports betting, which in Senegal is called by its French name of Paris Sportifs, is simply a hit among youngsters. The reasons why people in Senegal gamble are the same as anywhere else in Africa. Senegal is a sports-mad nation and its national football teams have recently performed extremely well. Just like in other countries, Senegalese also love sports and talk about them. It is, therefore, not a surprise that many also like to bet on sports. In fact, the biggest reason why Senegalese turn to betting is the chance to win big. For many struggling Senegalese, placing a winning bet could be worth a month's wage or even more. Many gamblers have won as high as 5 million CFA. The dream of winning a large amount of money is certainly an appealing prospect, which makes Senegalese turn to betting sites such as 1xBet. According to online gambling experts, these are the sports pages, which are currently the most popular in Senegal and in other countries Adapted from: https://africacasinohub.com/news/online- gambling- on-the-rise-in-senegal/
