Online gambling on the rise in Senegal Gambling is on the rise in Senegal as both online and offline betting are becoming more popular in the country. Especially sports betting and playing in the lottery have gained popularity. The Continent, a pan- African weekly news magazine, first reported the news about it. According to the magazine, especially young Senegalese are increasingly turning to gambling. Senegal, a nation of almost 17 million people in West Africa, is not the country where you would expect most people to gamble. Given that their religions prohibit gambling, Senegal is not the most fertile ground for betting websites. However, that has not discouraged youngsters. Despite the fact that conservative people do not approve of gambling, more liberal young people easily find their way to Africa's main betting pages.
